Illinois Junior Academy of Science Winners

Four students from St. George School were participants in the state-wide science fair sponsored by the Illinois Junior Academy of Science. The annual science fair was held on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana on Saturday, May 5, 2008. The road to Champaign-Urbana began in September when the students selected their science projects. Mrs. Anna Baldinelli, junior high science teacher and moderator of the science fairs, prepared students for the event that would eventually culminate with the state-wide science fair downstate. The first science fair was held during Catholic Schools Week in January. Twenty-four students qualified for the regional science fair held in March.

Madison Ross-Ryan, Kaitlyn Francour, Michael McGrath, and Colin Prinsen, were among the 1012 students from across the State of Illinois to be present at the U. of I. on Saturday.   The rankings were Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Participant. Madison Ross-Ryan, Kaitlyn Francour and Michael McGrath received Gold rankings. Colin Prinsen received a Silver ranking. Mrs. Baldinelli said that "These students were great representatives for St. George."
