Dear St. George Parents,

Time has flown quickly this year. The world keep moving faster and faster. We have only a few weeks left now. The weather has turned beautiful and there's summer in the air. The children's minds sometimes move faster than the calendar. For some the lure of summer has begin to take over. They need your help to stay on  track. For some, these last weeks are very important.

I would like to speak to summer studies. The long summer break can be disastrous if a student doesn't keep the brain active. This is where you come in. Make sure the student is reading. It doesn't matter what they read. Just have them read. Take them to the library every week. Talk to them about the book they are reading. And don't forget math. Use opportunities to review their math skills. (Now I don't mean to sit down with pencilo and paper and do algebra problems.) When you shop, have them compare prices by doing a little subtraction. Check the odometer and see if they can tell you how you have traveled. Have them look at maps of where you travel and see if they can find a state capital or measure distances.

And, don't forget about God. Summer is a break from school, not God. There always seems to be time for baseball, soccer, fishing, etc. but no time for the Lord. C'mon parents! It's your duty and responsibility. You are your children's first and most important religion teacher .

Many blessings,

Edward Weston
